THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD.

Once again it has been a while since last blog. We are still in WA.

So here's a catch up of the last couple of months.
We spent a bit of time at Lane Poole Reserve after leaving Bunbury. Lane Poole is on the murray river WA about 2 hours from Perth. Funny camp spots in WA, most have a camp host who collects your fees, tells you what spot you can camp in. You can't just rock up and camp where you want. Lane Poole had a booking system you had to book 48 hours before hand -of course we didn't realise this until we got there so coudn't get a spot right on the river but found a pretty good camp anyway.

Bit of fishing but no fish

Then on to Fremantle for a couple of weeks. Did a tour of freo jail. The guide was one of the ex prison officers which was good because it gave you a good feel of what prison life was like. He made us line up in file, yelled in your face pretty, much treated us like prisoners.

Fremantle Prison

Funny story. The guard at the start of the tour said listen because I'm gonna ask you questions. He was picking on this one girl, right up in her face, yelling at her haven't you been listening and she would just shrug her shoulders. Then we went into the chapel & he was doing his spiel, stopped and looked up, realised she had a portable translator in her hand & said I just realised something funny-the poor girl he was picking on couldnt speak english!

Seen a renactment of the Endeavour at E Shed Freo

Did a day trip out to Rottnest Island.

15 year wait for these moorings!

Resident quokkas.
Did a guided bus tour around the island which is probably the best way to see it.

Had luscious lunches....

Then went to Perth. Visited the casino (not so good for the pocket). Went to the cricket. Forgot our camera & had to buy a disposable hence the terrible photos. We picked the best day to go although stinking hot 40 degrees but to see India bowled out, Hilfy get five for and little Dave Warner smack a 100 on the first day GREAT!

Perths Kings Park....

Spent a couple of weeks north of Perth at Ledge Point. Windy, windy place. Had a whirly whirly,  tent copped a hiding, snapped  a pole. Craig did a bit of work with a lobster company.

Perks of the job!

Went up to Nambung NP and to the Pinnacles Desert.

So then ventured back down to Perth, calling into Yanchep NP.

After spending quite a few weeks in a caravan park at Gwelup we have now taken a 6month lease in Osborne Park. Its about 15mins from the beach & the city. Both working.

Sunset at Hilarys
Perths extremely expensive, $9 a pint, cheapest schooner if you can get one $7. Steak at a pub at least $30. Rent mind boggling. Heaps of sharks. But its easy to get around, public transports good, and we still have a bit to see here. Does feel like we are on the other side of the world - but going to recash then head off again!
